CPDI's Strengthening Electoral Processes program aims to strengthen the electoral process, ensuring it is free, fair, and inclusive. Key initiatives include:

  • **Election Observation: **Deploying trained observers to monitor elections, assess transparency, and ensure adherence to democratic standards.

  • Exit Polls: Conducting surveys to gauge voter behavior and predict election outcomes, providing immediate insights into electoral trends.

  • Accessibility Audits: Evaluating polling stations to ensure they are accessible to all citizens, including those with disabilities, thereby promoting inclusive participation.

  • Voter Education: Engaging with communities to educate voters about their rights and the electoral process, fostering informed and active participation.

Notable Projects:

  • She Leads - Political Training of Young Women Leaders: This initiative trained 100 young women and 25 male allies in political processes, empowering them to assume leadership roles and address the gender gap in political representation.

  • Women in Elections Online Portal: Supported by IFES and Global Affairs Canada, this project created an online repository of civic and political information for women, highlighting and encouraging their participation in the political process.

  • Increasing Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Electoral Systems: CPDI is committed to ensuring that electoral processes are inclusive. This project focuses on:

Accessibility Enhancements: Conducting audits of polling stations to identify and rectify barriers that hinder participation of persons with disabilities.

Sensitization Workshops: Training election officials and stakeholders on the rights and needs of voters with disabilities to foster an inclusive electoral environment.

  • Women NIC/Voter Registration: Recognizing the underrepresentation of women in electoral rolls, CPDI has undertaken initiatives to:

Facilitation Services: Assisting women in navigating the NIC acquisition and voter registration processes, particularly in underserved areas.
