Food & Health
The Food & Health program at the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) is dedicated to improving public health and promoting safe food practices. A key focus of the program is advocating for the elimination of trans fats and partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) from the food system to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and other health issues. CPDI works with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and communities to raise awareness and support the implementation of regulatory measures for healthier food environments.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, CPDI played a crucial role in mitigating the impact of the health crisis by undertaking various projects aimed at strengthening community resilience. This included distributing essential supplies, conducting public awareness campaigns on virus prevention, and supporting healthcare initiatives.
Additionally, the program emphasizes capacity-building efforts, such as providing first aid training to journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enhance their safety and preparedness while reporting in challenging situations. Through these diverse initiatives, CPDI seeks to foster healthier, more resilient communities with improved access to food safety and healthcare services.
