Coalition for Right to Information (CRTI)
Purpose:
CRTI is a consortium of civil society organizations working to protect and promote citizens' right to information in Pakistan. It advocates for effective Right to Information (RTI) laws and their implementation to ensure government transparency and public access to information.
Affiliation:
Founded on December 17, 2012, in Islamabad, CRTI unites organizations to push for open information and accountability.
Key Activities:
- Advocating for stronger RTI laws and opposing regressive amendments (e.g., in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's RTI Act 2013).
- Awarding RTI Champions Awards to journalists, citizens, and public officers for promoting transparency.
- Observing International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) and organizing awareness sessions on RTI’s role in journalism and public oversight.
- Pressuring governments to fill vacancies in information commissions and strengthen their autonomy.
