Project Objectives: | 1. In collaboration with advocacy partners, to build consensus among key decision makers (National) for the development and adoption of best practice TFA limit regulation.
2. Build strong coalition of individuals, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to strategize and influence decision makers to pass TFA regulations.
3. Collaborate with GHAI to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to monitor and counter industry/front groups to create an enabling environment for TFA regulation in Pakistan.

Project Details: | Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) has formulated a project in June 2023, titled “Tackling the Silent Killer: Coalition for TFAs Elimination in Pakistan”. The purpose of this one-year project is to achieve a mandatory national limit of 2 grams of industrially produced trans fatty acids (TFA) per 100 grams of total fat in all foods in Pakistan. The project will engage both government and civil society organizations (CSOs) to build consensus for the development and adoption of best practice trans fatty acids (TFA) limit regulation, influence decision makers to pass TFA regulations, and monitor and counter industry/front groups to create an enabling environment for TFA regulation in Pakistan. |
