Background: The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives, Pakistan (CPDI) is an independent, non-partisan and a not-for-profit civil society organization working on issues of peace and development in Pakistan. It is registered under section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017. CPDI needs services of this advertised position for implementing the project for Just Energy Transition (JET) from Fossil fuel to Renewable Energy in Pakistan. It plans to do this by:

  1. Establishing a cohort of JET champions including legislators, political leaders, senior officials, environment protection activists/ defenders and media persons and builds their capacity for informed policy development and legislative oversight initiatives aimed at just energy transition for sustainable development.
  2. Facilitates members of the cohort in undertaking initiatives e.g. submission of questions, motions, resolutions, call attention notices and bills in the legislatures, public statements and commitments by political leaders, initiation of proposals by government officers and publication of investigative reports; and
  3. Selected standing committees of legislative assemblies/ senate establish a mechanism to engage relevant civil society organizations influencers and push for initiatives aimed at just energy transition for sustainable development.

Job Description and Responsibilities: 

The Outreach & Capacity Building Coordinator (OCBC) will plan, coordinate, and execute various tasks to ensure the project’s success. Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the project. The coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and schedules.
  2. Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, ensuring effective communication among team members.
  3. Work closely with Project Manager to allocate resources and ensure that project tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  4. Provide regular project status updates to project leadership.
  5. Monitor and assess project risks, providing timely solutions to prevent project delays.
  6. Assist Project Manager in designing and executing project work plan to meet the goals and objectives of the project.
  7. Assist in organizing and conducting project activities including meetings, capacity building workshops, conferences, etc.
  8. Assist in documenting project activities, reports writing, and project communication within organization and with stakeholders.
  9. Keep close liaison with relevant legislatures, members of identified standing committees and non-government organizations, policy makers, media, etc.
  10. Responsible for conducting desk research, media monitoring, and other related tasks.
  11. Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

 Required Qualification/Specifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Government and Politics, preference will be given to Renewable Energy Engineering or Environmental Sciences, etc.).
  • 5 years proven experience as a Project Coordinator or similar or related (environment) role in a civil society organization or thinktank or energy related research organization.
  • Team player, strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent lobbying, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of social media production processes is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Urdu are required.

  • CPDI is a non-smoking area. Smoking is not allowed in covered areas of CPDI offices, inside CPDI official vehicles, during the proceedings of any seminars, conferences or meetings conducted by CPDI or where any employee is representing CPDI.
